Big Stone Fruit - "after"

I started with a base coat of metallic gold. Then I brushed on layers of transparent oil paints. I love the look but it took forever for each layer to dry!

Big Stone Fruit - "before"

These faux stone large pieces of fruit sit in a large bowl on a client's coffee table. It's a great look but they really needed a color update.

after

ta-da! A whole new look!

before

This is a large vase that sits on a clients fireplace hearth. The colors in the room have changed, so I took it home to my studio to be updated also.

how true!

Even on a stormy day the clouds are beautiful!
While working on the wood trim I had to stop and take some photos of an approaching storm. A house painter on the job asked what I was doing. when I told him I was capturing the awesome clouds he said "awe, yes, they are our mountains.......how true!!!

faux effects

I've been busy working in a house under construction for over a week now. I'm applying a glaze to most of the wood trim and doors. If you look at the baseboard you can see the before and after effect.

Jax and Remh....done!

The hardest part of any painting, for me, is knowing when to stop!

day five Jax and Remy

Time to let it dry a little before adding any final touches.

This was a short painting session, I'm hoping to spend more time on it tomorrow.

day one - Jax and Remy

day one of a commissioned pet portrait. At this point I think Jax kind of looks like a ghost dog! Remy is a maltese that will be added next.

painting the bougainvillea

torn paper finish

The paper wall finish is now complete and the first layers of color have been applied to the door trim. The wall finish looks alot like leather. Now the fun part -- paint the bougainvillea.

bar area update

A before shot of the bar area I'm working on. I'm painting the white trim around the wine cellar door in faux wood tones to match door, I think the white trim is too stark. I'll also be lowering the artwork to create a more intimate setting.

view at Continental Towers

Continental towers lobby

Yesterday I had the pleasure of painting a faux finish on lobby walls of a hi-rise condo building on Clearwater Pass. The people I encountered were all so friendly and fun and the view was spectacular!

JP's Gate

This is my first experiment with a giclee. I wasn't sure how to decide which painting to try first so I'm using my latest creation - JP's Gate. JP was the original owner of my house who comes to visit occasionally in spirit form. It's 18x24 on stretched canvas.

first day back

It's my first time posting and my first day back from taking a week off to work on my website - although a dear friend did most of the work. She flew here just to help me, and visit too! We have been friends I far back as I can remember. Our mothers met when they were preganant and we were both born artists....how cool is that!?!
So today I'm working on a (rough) color sketch for a very nice client with a beautiful waterfront home. I'll be working in an alcove bar area. First I'll be applying torn craft paper with layers of glazes to add texture and interest to the walls. Then I'll be painting bougainvilla vines with rich oil colors. Stayed tuned for photos of the finished product.

Boo is my cousin's daughter's cat. She's very special to me and I wanted to give her a special "sweet sixteen" gift.
